Likud seeks to bar Arab lists in elections
The Israeli Likud Party, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, plans to submit requests to ban the two Arab lists, "The Joint List" and "The United Arab List" (Ra'am), from participating in the upcoming Knesset elections scheduled for October. The accusations are that they support terrorism and contain elements that offend the Israeli army. This comes amid a political escalation ahead of the elections, with Netanyahu focusing on portraying them as two parties supporting terrorism. His goal is to form a government with right-wing parties, amidst strong competition from Gadi Eizenkot, the former Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, who is leading in the polls.
