Manchester derby refereeing dispute
The article covers a refereeing scandal in the Manchester Derby match between Manchester United and Manchester City, where the English refereeing body "Pro Ref" acknowledged a mistake in the decision to award Erling Haaland's goal, which gave City a 1-0 victory. The body explained that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) should have reviewed the play after Manchester City’s Enzo Fernandez was in an offside position and its potential impact on the flow of the game. Failing to intervene was considered a misjudgment, even though the final result remained unchanged. This comes after criticism from Manchester United’s manager and the referee authority's confirmation that the incident would be reviewed. However, it did not affect City’s win, and the controversy over refereeing decisions in the match continues.
