Industry Minister Confirms Alternative Routes and Steady Jordan Shipping
The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply confirmed that maritime traffic through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait remains normal so far. The government has devised a plan to ensure preparedness for any developments, including transferring containers by land and utilizing alternative passages in case the strait is closed. He also indicated that Jordan continues to import goods through the Bab safely and regularly. Additionally, Jordan will conclude two preferential trade agreements with Rwanda and Uzbekistan by the end of the year to strengthen markets, while new agreements are under consideration. The country is also planning major projects in the private sector and developing a gas pipeline network to achieve 80% self-sufficiency in natural gas by 2028.
