The Tafila Directorate of Agriculture has begun establishing experimental water catchment areas within its forests to enhance rainwater collection and improve tree growth in response to drought conditions. The initiative aims to study the effectiveness of these catchments in retaining water and nourishing the soil, thereby contributing to the protection of the natural vegetation and reducing the impacts of water scarcity, especially in areas containing various tree species such as cypress, oak, and pine. The results of the experiment will be monitored and evaluated regularly, with plans to expand its implementation on a larger scale once its success in supporting forest sustainability and enhancing their resilience to climatic challenges is confirmed.
