August bounced checks reach 16,000 totaling 114.7M dinars
In August, the value of returned checks in Jordan amounted to approximately 114.7 million dinars, compared to 88.3 million dinars in July. This represents 3.01% of the total value of checks circulated during the month. The number of returned checks was around 16,000, an increase from 13,800 in July. Financial reasons accounted for 62.1% of all returned checks, while technical issues made up 37.9%. In terms of value, about 56.8% of the returned checks were due to financial reasons, in line with the monthly trading volume of checks, which reached 556,000 checks worth over 3.81 billion dinars—an increase of 4% compared to the previous month. Since the beginning of the year through August, the electronic clearing system recorded approximately 4 million transactions with a total value of 27.2 billion dinars, according to "Jobak" statistics.
