Syria Reports Troops for Yemen
American officials have concluded that Saudi Arabia and Syria are considering the possibility of deploying Syrian forces to Yemen to participate in the counterattack launched by the Yemeni government forces backed by Riyadh against the Houthis. This was discussed during Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shura's visit to Riyadh and his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Sources reported that the initiative could involve between 10,000 and 20,000 Syrian soldiers, particularly from the 90th and 84th brigades, which include foreign Sunni fighters. This could represent an escalation in the Yemeni conflict along sectarian lines.
