Consumer complaints rise 138 percent

There has been a significant increase in consumer protection complaints in Jordan during the first nine months of the year, with a 138% rise compared to the same period last year. A total of 2,243 complaints were recorded, compared to 940 complaints in the previous year, with 80% of them closed. Most complaints primarily concern defective goods, services, and misleading advertisements, especially in the sectors of e-commerce, electronics, and automobiles. The ministry attributed the rise to increased awareness among citizens about their rights, as well as ongoing awareness and regulatory campaigns to ensure the enforcement of consumer protection laws and the safeguarding of consumer rights.
