A border guard unit affiliated with the Northern Military Zone thwarted an attempt to infiltrate Jordan on Friday evening by an armed group coming from Syrian territory. The group was estimated to number around 14 people. A military source said the group clashed with the forces under heavy covering fire, resulting in casualties among its members, while the rest fled back into Syria. The source stressed that the forces would deal firmly with attempts at infiltration and smuggling.
