The Patriarch of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the World, Mar Paul III Nona, visited the site of Jesus Christ’s baptism at Al-Maghtas to strengthen ties with churches and highlight the site’s religious and historical significance. He said the visit marks the start of future religious visits, particularly as preparations begin for the 2030 Jubilee. The director general of the site’s authority said visits by church leaders help raise the profile of Al-Maghtas and Jordan on the global Christian pilgrimage map.
