Trump strengthens White House security defenses

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump intends to launch a new security plan to enhance the protection of the White House following an escalation in threats. The plan includes establishing a permanent fence around Lafayette Square, constructing an underground security checkpoint that accommodates entrances for visitors and staff, and upgrading the security system through safety projects extending to Pennsylvania Avenue. The goal is to strengthen security while maintaining the historical character of the area. The new security system is scheduled to be inaugurated by July 2028.
