Saudi Foreign Ministry Condemns Militia Escalation
The Saudi Foreign Ministry announced that Iran-backed militias have chosen to escalate and have ignored the principles of good neighborliness, which has led to attacks against the Kingdom in Iraq. It stated that the Kingdom carried out a military operation based on its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, in coordination with the U.S. Central Command, targeting precise strikes against the militias in response to attacks on oil facilities. Saudi Arabia emphasized that the operation was carried out in self-defense and warned that the escalation poses risks of increasing tension in the region.
