Iran considered targeting Ukrainian port
The article focused on Iran's consideration of targeting a port in Ukraine in response to an attack on an Iranian ship, but diplomatic efforts led to de-escalation. The newspaper reported that expectations had indicated Iran might carry out a symbolic action using a small ballistic missile, and efforts were concentrated on avoiding any greater escalation. Following a diplomatic initiative, Iranian and Ukrainian officials communicated, with the Iranian Foreign Minister confirming that Kyiv had clarified the attack on the ship was unintentional and that Iran does not seek escalation, emphasizing the importance of compensating for damages. The report suggests that escalation was possible, but the opportunity was lost thanks to dialogue. The Iranian government also reiterated that targeting students or their interests would be a red line.
