Beirut seizes over five generators
The article concerns the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade's procedures to monitor and regulate violations by private generator owners. The ministry, in coordination with the State Security, seized several generators in areas of Beirut such as Ashrafieh, Hamra, Zokak, and Pillar of Abu Hidar, in addition to issuing violations and warnings in other areas like Mar Elias, Nahr Ibrahim, and New Road. These measures aim to ensure that generator owners adhere to the official prices, install meters, and refrain from imposing illegal charges, while also ensuring that these areas continue to receive electricity and that citizens are not affected by violations. These steps are part of a supervisory campaign to organize the generator sector, promote transparency, enforce the law, reduce repeated violations, and ensure fair distribution of electricity.
