The child Ayoob passed away after falling into a dry artesian well approximately 80 meters deep in the Béjaïa Province of Algeria, following four days of rescue efforts. The rescue teams faced significant difficulties due to the narrowness and slant of the well, which required drilling a parallel shaft and repeatedly adjusting it. The last words the child called out to his father before his death were "Daddy, take me out." He died after his body was recovered, sparking widespread sympathy both within Algeria and internationally.
