An American appellate court rejected the Trump administration's request to lift the ban on using a government database to verify citizenship records for elections, citing concerns over information accuracy and citizens' privacy threats. The judiciary confirmed that the system could potentially violate social security laws and lead to the removal of inaccurate voter registrations, which could impact the conduct of the midterm elections scheduled for next November. The issues are central to data protection and voting rights, amid political tensions between Republicans and Democrats.
