The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it targeted three oil tankers and three vessels linked to the United States in response to the US military's attack on three Iranian tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. The statement indicated that the attacks specifically targeted vessels belonging to the Islamic Republic and ships associated with the United States to affirm Iran's retaliatory stance against American escalation in the region. This comes amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States over maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital corridor for global oil transportation.
