The Libyan Ministry of Defense, under the Government of National Unity, has successfully apprehended a sabotage cell comprised of Libyans and foreigners involved in planning and executing attacks targeting vital infrastructure across the country. These targets include oil and electricity facilities, such as a power station south of Tripoli and oil installations in Zawiya. The assaults have resulted in fires, extensive damage, and disruptions to fuel and electricity supplies. These operations are part of a broader escalation in attacks on critical infrastructure using drones, which began in August and continued through September. There are concerns that this wave of assaults could expand and cause greater destruction to the oil and energy sectors, though no casualties have been reported.
