Party clears Ali Al-Taher with Iran's backing
The article discussed Hezbollah's decision to evacuate the "Ali Taher" hills in southern Lebanon and to direct the Israeli army instead of handing them over to the Lebanese army. This move raised questions about the extent of Iran's approval of this action. Sources confirmed that the party would not have proceeded without coordination with Tehran; despite previous Iranian threats to intervene to protect the sites, Iran had not translated those threats into concrete steps. It is believed that the evacuation of the hills was part of an Iranian settlement reached with the involvement of international mediators, which includes the withdrawal of Iranian Revolutionary Guard elements. Meanwhile, Hezbollah continues to redeploy its forces to retain its weapons, justifying this by the need to counter Israel. The evacuation raises questions about Israel's ability to exert full control over the area and about how much Hezbollah might benefit from this move to strengthen its negotiating position in the eighth round of talks on border adjustments and political decisions. There are also official Lebanese calls for the hills to be handed over to the Lebanese army to strengthen its role and to achieve a balance of power on the ground.
