Public Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine discussed, at the opening of the Fourth Annual Conference of the Lebanese Psychological Society, the impact of successive crises on Lebanese families. He emphasized that mental health within families is considered an integral part of public health and the nation’s well-being. He pointed out that since 2019, Lebanon has experienced major crises such as the economic collapse, the Beirut explosion, and the pandemic, all of which negatively affected family stability and resilience. He explained that the government established the National Mental Health Program to support families, develop community services, and implement low-cost digital interventions, along with increasing legal recognition for psychologists since 2017. He reaffirmed that the government’s partnership continues to ensure support for parents and families, noting that recent crises have posed challenges to family relationships. He stressed the importance of ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of the national mental health system and to protect children and adolescents.
