Washington plans major Lebanon shift
The United States is working to strengthen its presence and influence in Lebanon and the wider region, with the aim of bringing about significant changes to the political and security situation. Washington seeks to isolate Lebanon from Iran and Hezbollah by pushing for international and regional efforts, including the formation of an international force to be deployed in southern Lebanon to halt expansion and conflicts between Lebanon and Israel, as well as to reduce Iranian influence. Additionally, the United States urges the promotion of reconciliation and supports the negotiation process regarding Lebanon's affairs, with a focus on de-escalation in the region, mainly through diplomatic efforts involving Europe and the Middle East, all in pursuit of political, security, and economic stability in Lebanon.
