Public Admin Union Calls Friday Strike
The Public Administration Employees Association announced a general strike on Friday, October 2, 2026, in protest against the government's preferential treatment in fuel support distribution between the private and public sectors. Specifically, they highlighted that 5 liters of gasoline are granted to the private sector while government employees are neglected. The association demands that public sector employees be fairly included in measures to ease fuel burdens and that transportation allowances be adjusted to reflect the actual costs. They emphasized that the strike will not be limited to one day and will escalate until employees receive their rights, including road blockades and the closure of government offices. This marks the beginning of a widespread escalation, signaling serious ongoing protests.
