Syria's Transitional Authority Confronts Major Challenges
The article discusses the state of the transitional authority in Syria and the major challenges it faces, particularly at the economic and political levels. Analyses indicate that the authority, which relied heavily on external legitimacy, has faced a genuine crisis following the decline of international support and the failure of promises previously made to aid with investments and economic developments, all amid ongoing internal instability. Recent events, such as explosions at weapons warehouses and gas shortages affecting power plants, have highlighted the impact of security and economic tensions. Meanwhile, its efforts to address internal crises and regional transitions are stumbling, especially with the increasing influence of external parties and the challenges in managing relationships with major powers. Ultimately, the current situation suggests a weakening of the authority’s capacity to manage crises alone, with external changes looming as significant factors influencing Syria’s future.
