Pentagon creates new AI and drone command
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced the creation of a new military command called "Indonesian War Command," aimed at developing automated and autonomous capabilities focused on modern, rapidly changing warfare—particularly in the fields of drones and artificial intelligence. This move is part of the Pentagon's efforts to shift from traditional, costly weapon systems to more affordable, self-operating systems with faster response times, emphasizing the need to address emerging threats, especially as drones play an increasingly prominent role in conflicts like the Russia-Ukraine war. The new command, led by a four-star military officer, will be responsible for developing more efficient technologies to meet future military challenges, with the goal of enhancing operational efficiency and flexibility.
