US Navy deploys third carrier to Middle East
The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. Department of Defense has dispatched the aircraft carrier "Theodore Roosevelt" and its combat group to the Middle East, arriving from San Diego with around 10,000 troops to join the aircraft carriers "George W. Bush" and "George Washington" already there. These reinforcements come amid threats from U.S. President Donald Trump to escalate bombing campaigns against Iran after the midterm elections, linking the escalation to their results. Additionally, Washington has sent two more Patriot missile systems to protect Saudi and Qatari energy facilities, as part of its efforts to deter any large-scale military actions against Iran. The U.S. is also preparing for a potential wave of escalation amid increasing regional tensions.
