Israeli courts restore two Arab candidacies
The Israeli Supreme Court ruled to reinstate two Arab lists, the "Joint List" and the "United Arab List – Ra'am," into the election race scheduled for October 27, after the Election Committee had decided in September to exclude them based on allegations related to supporting armed struggle and denying Israel's character as a Jewish and democratic state. The Court found that the evidence presented did not meet the legal standards to justify barring participation. Additionally, the Court allowed Member of Knesset Ofer Casif to run in the elections after his exclusion was rejected, while Sami Abu Shhadeh, head of the National Democratic Assembly Party, withdrew from the race amid expectations that his exclusion would be upheld.
