Metropolitans demand economic reform
The article highlights the Maronite bishops’ discontent with the deterioration of economic and social conditions in Lebanon, including complaints about the high cost of living, declining job opportunities, and increasing youth emigration. They urged officials to accelerate economic reforms, reduce corruption, rationalize tax policies, and recover depositors’ funds to confront crises and improve citizens’ living conditions. They also condemned Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon and called on the international community to support the right to return and to keep weapons under the authority of the state.
