Al-Zein advances on Secrets dump measures
The article pertains to the current procedures for addressing the Srar landfill site in Akkar. It states that the site has been temporarily reopened to prevent the accumulation of waste, with increased monitoring and environmental safeguards. It emphasizes that the work on establishing a sanitary landfill and a waste treatment plant began in January 2026, and both are expected to become operational by the end of February 2027. This will enable waste processing in accordance with environmental standards and the closure of illegal dumps. Additionally, there is encouragement to expand source separation efforts and provide support to the surrounding community, aiming to reduce reliance on illegal dumps and ensure a fair distribution of environmental and social burdens across the region.
