Iran congratulates Iraq on US troop withdrawal
The Iranian Foreign Ministry extended congratulations to the Iraqi people and government on the occasion of the withdrawal of American and foreign forces from Iraq, expressing support for Iraq's sovereignty and independence. It was also reported that a group of Iranian prisoners detained in the UAE for years on flimsy charges has been released. The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, sent a message emphasizing that Tehran responded effectively to Washington's threats to use the Strait of Hormuz as a means of pressure. It is clear from these statements that there are Iranian and international efforts to support regional stability and to reject external interference.
