Kenya vehicle crash kills 17 in Salama
A collision involving several vehicles in the Salama area of Kenya resulted in the death of 17 people who were on their way to a religious shrine, including church members heading to participate in a national day of prayer. The incident occurred 90 kilometers southeast of Nairobi, when a small bus with a capacity of 14 passengers was struck from behind by a truck after being hit by another truck, leading to the demise of all the passengers. Kenyan government statistics indicate that the average annual fatalities due to road accidents amount to approximately 4,000, with the actual number likely three times higher due to underreporting of deaths. This incident is one of the most notable traffic accidents occurring in the country, highlighting the urgent need to strengthen road safety measures.
