Israel enhances positions inside Syria
Israeli military operations have expanded in the Quneitra region inside Syria, where Israel is digging and fortifying positions as part of the "Sova 53" project. Damascus regards this as an ongoing violation of Syrian sovereignty. Analyses indicate that Israel is carrying out these measures to serve security and military interests, with expectations that they will continue for one to two years. These efforts are part of a strategy to bypass traditional security borders and shift them outside Israeli territory, following heightened operations since early October, including gaining control of more than 750 square kilometers, conducting airstrikes, and incursions on the ground. The Syrian side fears the return of Iranian forces or other groups to Syrian areas, while Israel maintains that these measures aim to safeguard its security without any intention of annexing territory. Interpretations differ regarding the motives and future of these movements, but both sides agree that the goal is to strengthen their security positions and control border regions. The tensions persist amid uncertainty about the sustainability of these measures and their impact on future security arrangements.
