Electoral laws are not commodities
The article clarified that electoral laws in Lebanon are not a commodity to be changed at every turning point. Its modification requires significant time and efforts before it coincides with the full restoration of the state's sovereignty over its entire territory. It also emphasized that the focus should be on dismantling illegal regimes, especially Hezbollah, before holding new elections. Any attempt to change the electoral law beforehand is seen as an effort to burden the state with past burdens. At the same time, it pointed out the ongoing deterioration of economic and living conditions, with the government’s slowdown in implementing important reforms—particularly in the electricity sector—highlighting that solutions depend on genuine political will to end waste and invest in a sustainable vision.
