Diesel hoses smuggle milk from Syria
The article focused on the escalating illegal smuggling operations of milk and cheese from Syria into Lebanon across the border, employing sneaky methods such as using hoses to transport milk and using water to conceal the movement. These operations cause significant financial losses to Lebanese farmers and threaten the local market with contaminated cheeses containing unhealthy ingredients, thereby endangering public health and worsening the economic crisis in the Bekaa region. Sources indicate that smuggling leads to large quantities of milk and cheese entering at low prices, negatively impacting Lebanese factories and producers, as well as posing health risks through the transfer of perishable materials and potential contamination and disease. The demands include the urgent need for strict legal measures and coordination among authorities to secure the borders and protect the economy and public health from these organized crimes.
