Cyprus Sees Failed Syrian Smuggling
Lebanese security forces successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle Syrians to Cyprus by sea. They raided a room in the Al Aboudiyyah area, where they detained 10 individuals, including Syrian M. M. (born in 1986). The detainees confirmed that the smuggling operation was being planned in exchange for $5,000 per person and that it was orchestrated by two individuals—one Lebanese and one Syrian. The authorities are handling the detainees in accordance with the law and are continuing efforts to apprehend the remaining those involved in the operation.
