Mikati outlines political landscape supporting Aoun
President Nabil Mikati clarified in his television interview that he has no intention of returning quickly to the position of Prime Minister, emphasizing that his political stances are not driven by personal ambitions. He decisively addressed the issue of normalization with Israel, indicating that achieving such normalization is not possible under current circumstances and linking it to a broader Arab stance, reflecting his belief that Lebanon cannot proceed alone on this path. He also mentioned that the issue of Hezbollah's weapons might be exchanged for external guarantees, affirming that the appropriate approach should be within a regional and international framework. Additionally, he expressed clear support for President Michel Aoun and endorsed dialogue between Hezbollah and the presidency, keeping communication channels open, despite not being prepared to return soon to the role of Prime Minister.
