Council of Ministers Meets Tomorrow
The Public Administration Employees Association in Lebanon has continued to escalate their protests demanding better salary conditions and transportation allowances. They announced the closure of public offices and municipalities for two days (Thursday and Friday), following a series of actions and strikes that have been ongoing since 2019, due to the government's disregard for their demands. The association's president emphasizes that the escalation may persist if their key demands are not met, most notably raising the transportation allowance to the equivalent of 10 liters of gasoline per day and addressing the declining value of salaries in a serious and rapid manner. This comes amid the ongoing economic crisis and decreasing purchasing power, with coordination efforts underway with other groups to avoid broader escalation.
