Airline CEOs earn $100K monthly for Hormuz routes
The article points out that Gulf oil tanker captains earn around $100,000 per month for navigating the Strait of Hormuz, in addition to bonuses of up to $50,000 for each journey, due to the increasing Iranian attacks on vessels. These sailors are considered to be in a high-risk situation, viewed as mercenaries because of the significant dangers involved, which has led to a record-shattering rise in shipping costs, reaching up to $1.3 million per day. Threats and attacks in the strait—through which approximately 20% of the world's oil supplies pass—are escalating, complicating the task of maintaining oil flow amid rising tensions between Iran and Western powers.
