WHO seeks clarity from Russia on unknown pneumonia
The World Health Organization has reported that it has requested clarifications from Russian authorities regarding reports of a second laboratory worker in Siberia contracting severe pneumonia of unknown cause. No cases of plague have been recorded among those who came into contact with the female employee who died last week, as authorities continue investigating the cause of her death and any related illnesses. The infectious agent responsible for the pneumonia has not yet been identified, and the results are expected to provide additional information to inform necessary health measures.
