Sansour's outlook on Al-Aqsa flood
The article focuses on the causes and motivations behind the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation carried out by Hamas, analyzing the factors that may have led Palestinian leaders to decide to execute it despite the likelihood of a fierce Israeli response. The article suggests that the act may have been a mixture of religious, emotional, and traditional motives rather than purely rational goals, reflecting Hamas's willingness to sacrifice its values and forces to achieve its objectives, even at the risk of potential losses. It also links the outcome after three years to a diminished chance of establishing a viable Palestinian state, despite increased international support for the Palestinian cause. This support, however, has come at the expense of Palestinian land and presence in Gaza and the West Bank. The article emphasizes the danger of repeating this scenario in Lebanon and the potentially catastrophic consequences that could follow.
