tayyar.org - Alcohol found in children's medication
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it voluntarily withdrew a batch of Baby Sleep Gripe Water, a children's sleep syrup, from the Babies’ Magic Tea brand after the presence of types of alcohol not listed on the label was discovered. Testing revealed that the product contains 8.3% ethanol, 0.35% methanol, and 0.48% isopropanol—substances that could affect infants' central nervous system, causing effects such as drowsiness, loss of motor coordination, behavioral changes, nausea, and vomiting. Larger quantities could lead to serious health complications, including respiratory depression. No cases of illness linked to the product have been reported so far.
