Fly Dubai assistant captain's plan at Ben Gurion
Investigations in the UAE have revealed that an Omani co-pilot was planning to carry out a terrorist attack on the passenger building at Ben Gurion Airport in Israel. During his studies in Australia in 2017, he was influenced by extremist ideas and incitement to violence, exploiting his time there to gather information about flight routes and the airport. On September 30, 2026, he attempted to seize control of the plane during the flight with the aim of executing a suicide attack targeting the airport. The pilot was attacked with an emergency axe before being subdued, allowing the plane to be retaken and safely land in Saudi Arabia. The suspect admitted to his plan and stated he acted alone; investigations are still ongoing.
