Baratrain Launch Highlights Shared Transport
Lebanon has launched a local initiative to develop an electric train project in the town of Al-Barbara, as part of a plan to revive public transportation and integrate it with tourism and commercial projects. The train, which stretches over 3.5 kilometers and operates on renewable energy, aims to improve transportation for students and tourists, expand the shared transit network, and serve as an initial step toward restoring old railway lines and developing an integrated network connecting the Port of Tripoli to the Syrian interior. The project reflects coordinated efforts between local authorities and the private sector, contributing to the enhancement of economic and social infrastructure. Expansion of the route is expected, along with economic benefits and the revival of the region's historic transportation role.
