Bassil Calls for Peace with Conditions

MP Jebran Bassil stated that the relationship with Hezbollah depends on Lebanon's interests, rejecting the subjugation of Lebanon to the wars of others or the use of weapons outside the state’s framework. He clarified that resolving the issue of Hezbollah’s weapons should be achieved through Lebanese consensus, away from civil war or external interventions, emphasizing that Lebanon has no interest in participating in regional wars that harm its sovereignty and economy. He also pointed out that the Free Patriotic Movement advocates for Lebanon’s self-support rather than relying on other countries, and that it does not oppose negotiations with Israel, provided that Lebanon’s rights are safeguarded. He underscored that any agreement must serve Lebanon’s only interests.
