EU allocates extra 3.3B euros to Ukraine for arms
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the European Union will transfer an additional 3.3 billion euros to Ukraine for the purchase of missiles and drones, including American Patriot systems, following a phone call with Zelensky. This move comes after the Commission approved previous funding of 6.1 billion euros for air and missile defense systems, as well as munitions, drones, and electronic warfare equipment. Since the beginning of the year, the EU has provided Ukraine with aid totaling nearly 15 billion euros, and plans to use funds from the European SAFE program to develop joint defense projects with Kyiv, within a comprehensive support package worth 90 billion euros for 2026-2027, with 60 billion allocated to strengthen defensive capabilities and 30 billion to the budget.
