Lebanese Prisoners Await Amnesty
Approximately 600 prisoners in Lebanese prisons entered their second month of a hunger strike and refusal of medication, protesting the suspension of the implementation of the general amnesty law. The health conditions of dozens of strikers have deteriorated, with critical cases rising to 77, and one individual has been transferred to the hospital. The prisoners are awaiting a decision from the Constitutional Council regarding the challenge submitted against the law, which could determine the fate of the amnesty. Amid increasing health concerns and their appeals to the media to raise awareness of their case, calls continue for the suspension of the law's implementation to be lifted. The prisoners are awaiting a legal decision that could be made within days.
