Europe stops Israel in southern Lebanon
The European Union Commission announced the creation of a new Lebanese support mission within the framework of the Common Security and Defence Policy, aimed at strengthening Lebanon's stability, supporting its institutions, and assisting in asserting its sovereignty. The mission, which will last for three years, will provide advice and training to both the armed forces and internal security agencies. It will work to improve control over Lebanese territory and security along the borders, without replacing UNIFIL or ending Israel's occupation of southern Lebanon. The mission will collaborate with European institutions and the United Nations to enhance Lebanese security capabilities, focusing on the sustainable development of security agencies. It will serve as a political and military oversight body monitoring developments in Lebanon.
