Former worker seeks artist's detention over unpaid wages
Maria Avila, the former housekeeper of singer Chris Brown, requested the issuance of an arrest warrant against him due to his failure to pay the court-ordered compensation awarded to her following a dog attack on Brown's house in 2020. Avila was awarded a judgment of approximately $13 million in damages, which was later reduced to about $9 million. She confirmed that Brown did not set any court dates for his appearance nor provided his complete financial records, which hindered the collection process. Additionally, he refused to disclose his financial information, particularly regarding his current tour. The case stems from the dog attack on her while she was leaving a house in Los Angeles, which resulted in serious injuries. Brown was also held liable in a civil case for the attack.
