Chinese leader pledges African mining support
Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed that Africa's resources "belong to it alone," expressing China's readiness to support the continent's mining sector. He warned that geopolitical competitions might exploit African resources. He emphasized that the principle that "African resources belong only to Africa" must be a condition before any international cooperation. He called for addressing the unjust international division that has devalued African resources. Additionally, he proposed balancing ethical principles with economic interests and providing assistance in development plans. Africa possesses about 30% of the world's reserves of vital minerals, making it a main focus of competition between China and the United States. He warned against resource exploitation for geopolitical conflicts and urged all foreign powers to act in good faith towards sustainable and stable development for the continent.
