Weapon Ban Org prioritizes Assad chemical program
The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has concluded that the Syrian authorities, following improved cooperation with the organization, are working to identify the locations of the Syrian regime's chemical weapons programs and are carrying out the destruction of chemical materials recovered since the start of the conflict. The organization confirmed that Syria has detained 18 suspects, including high-ranking officers, and aims to close the case completely by assessing the most dangerous sites and revealing remnants of chemical weapons, marking the first such step in years. Additionally, Syria has provided over 100,000 documents and facilitated access to witnesses as part of its commitment to reconcile with the international organization.
