US State Department on Party Funds
US State Department statements indicate that the funds Hezbollah claims to receive from Iran do not actually exist, and that the party relies on criminal activities such as drug trafficking to finance itself rather than Iranian support. The United States calls for the disarmament of Hezbollah, emphasizing that any funds it has will be used to buy weapons that threaten Israel and increase Lebanon's burdens. They also advocate for an international plan to rebuild Lebanon after the disarmament. Washington believes that a lasting solution requires dismantling Hezbollah's weapons and supports the trilateral peace process to achieve stability, while continuing to exert pressure to prevent escalation in the region.
