Kats Warns of Hezbollah Threat in South Lebanon
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz emphasized that Israel will strongly oppose any participation by Hezbollah alongside Iran in an attack against Israel. He warned that if Hezbollah becomes involved in confrontations with Israel, it will be eliminated and will lose more territory in southern Lebanon, including the possibility of evacuating the Shiite areas in Beirut and the south if the party engages in any attack. He clarified that Israel will not retreat from the areas it considers strategic for its security in Lebanon and Syria, announcing that the Israeli security zone could extend to Nabatieh and the Litani region. Katz underscored that this escalation comes amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran, along with Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon. Meanwhile, Lebanon rejects the presence of Israeli forces on its territory, insisting on its sovereignty and the restoration of its full statehood.
